The centennial meeting of the Ohio Classical Conference, which will be held at Columbus Academy on October 15th, 2022, invites submissions for an undergraduate panel. Papers might address any topic related to classics, ancient history, ancient Greek or Roman philosophy, classical archaeology, or classical reception. Papers should be no more than 1,500 words (or 10 minutes) in length and should have a topic that will be interesting to a broad audience, including high school students.
Four papers will be chosen for this hour-long panel: under the auspices of an undergraduate moderator, each presenter will speak for 10 minutes and field questions for five more minutes: further discussion can take place at the ensuing Vergilian lunch and receptions. If your paper is accepted, you will be able to attend the conference, including the keynote speech, the Vergilian lunch address by Dr. Steven Tuck (Miami University), and an academic panel on technology, mythology, and the gods in Homer, free of charge. The OCC will also provide breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack, which you can consume while connecting with other Ohio classics students and professors.
Submissions must be in the form of a solid draft of the talk, even if improvements are subsequently undertaken. Please send all submissions to efoster@wooster.edu. The deadline for submitting a paper is Friday, May 27th, 2022.
